You may have thought we'd offer a wide variety of graduate programmes, but did you imagine there'd be 17 of them to choose from?
We have 23 in house UK Distribution Centres including six dedicated to non–food and clothing. And we’re investing more in getting the right product to the right store at the right time. Which means new depots, new systems and new ways of running our distribution network.
You may think we don’t get close to our customers. But everything we do helps Tesco to invest in lower prices and improving customer service. This means working better for customers, simpler for staff and cheaper for Tesco. And delivering cost-effective, high quality systems.
As Tesco expands as a business, so does our Distribution team. Because we’re all about ensuring the right goods are where the customers want them, when they want them and in the best condition.
Our Distribution Centres are world leaders in logistics management, store replenishment, warehouse operations and supplier collaboration. We develop systems, processes and tools to manage the flow of products from suppliers to customers. And we deal with most business areas including buying, warehouse replenishment, logistics, store operations and even store design.
The distribution programme is two years long and is structured as follows:
Distribution familiarisation – you will rotate round the different areas within the distribution centre from Goods In to Transport to get a basic understanding of the operation.
Store familiarisation – you will work in a local store to understand our store operation and how stores and distribution work together to deliver for customers.
Team Manager Development – working in your training depot you will develop the technical and leadership skills to become a Team Manager.
Distribution Leadership Team role - the final part of your training programme is in a distribution centre where you will develop the skills to become a senior manager within the distribution centre.
Project Manager role – during the programme you will work on a head office project to improve the processes and ways of working in our distribution centres. This part of the programme will require you to move from your training depot and your work will be based between the office and depots planning and implementing change.
It’s a sophisticated, complex job. And it needs leaders who can get on with people from all backgrounds and make things happen. And as we continue to add new sites to our business, if it’s a fast moving career you want then this is the place for you.
