As the voice of the customer, Marketing ensures that everything Tesco does is based on what customers tell us, and that all our business areas are up-to-date on customer trends.
On this Programme you'll learn how to communicate with our customers, through advertising, local store marketing and Tesco Clubcard and help us influencing the rest of Tesco to meet customer needs.
It's an all-action, all-inclusive operation, that'll take you to the heart of our business - understanding our customers' habits, needs, likes and dislikes. In short, you'll live and breathe 'Every Little Helps' - and you'll make sure everyone else in Tesco does too.
On the Corporate Marketing Programme you will have the opportunity to experience at least two of the following areas:
- Our Customer Insight team analyses and reports on customer behaviours, attitudes and trends to ensure that customers remain at the heart of our decision making across the business. You'll be involved in a wide range of projects which will be instrumental in developing strategies that help us to remain a market leader.
- Our Local and Stores Marketing has two aspects. The Local Marketing team develops local marketing campaigns to support our new store and store refurbishment programme. They work at a store level to communicate to our customers. The Stores Marketing team, on the other hand, helps us to understand local customer needs to ensure our stores provide the best of Tesco locally and work closely with our Property and Retail teams.
- Our Brand Marketing team creates a stir about Tesco. We use advertising, publishing, point of sale, special promotions and a host of other methods to strengthen the Tesco brand in the most appealing way. In this team you could help create new TV or newspaper adverts, support the production of the Tesco magazine, design point of sale material or plan a calendar of promotional events for our stores
- The Clubcard and Tesco Freetime team looks after our 13 million Clubcard customers and more than two million members of our various other Tesco clubs. As part of this team you'll make sure they all receive mailings with vouchers, coupons, regular information and offers.
What will I be doing?
Based at our offices in Cheshunt, you'll enjoy a 2 year programme packed with hands-on experience and high-calibre training to prepare you for your first management position. As well as experience at least two areas of Marketing, you will have the opportunity to spend one month in a store where you'll get a real insight into how your decisions may affect the business. In the longer term, you'll have a wide range of opportunities and career paths in Corporate Marketing, or the wider business, in which to develop and progress your career.
What skills do I need?
To make your mark in Marketing, you'll need:
- A 2:1 degree, preferably a business, marketing or market research degree and BBC or 280 UCAS points (or equivalent qualifications).
- Ideally you'll have gained some exposure to a leading-edge marketing department, plus you'll have the personality to fit in and the capacity to pick up the skills you'll need quickly.
- A mixture of sound analytical skills, creative thinking and innovation is also important.
- A full UK driving licence.
