And when you have over 470,000 people around the world, there’s plenty of scope for influencing the business. That’s why we shape business processes around talent, performance management and learning.

What will I be doing?

The Human Resources graduate programme is two years long. During the programme you will have the opportunity to work on projects in specialist areas such as Reward & Policy, Resourcing and Learning and Development as well as gaining experience of the more generalist side of in Personnel through working in Personnel Operations of a specific business area.

At the start of the programme, graduates spend a short period of time in store to understand how the heart of the business operates. As well as understanding the how the different areas of the store operate, you will gain an insight into the Personnel function. You will see how people policies and procedures work on a daily basis.

Naturally, we’ll make sure that you get relevant training in specific skills, like shaping Personnel policy or writing training and development plans. We’ll also help you to hone the core skills you’ll need, such as communication, report writing, analysis, decision-making, influencing, making presentations and running meetings.

Where could it take me?

By the end of the programme, you’ll have a good idea of the area of Personnel you want to work in and will have the skills and experience to develop a rewarding career at Tesco. Within five years you could be leading a major business-wide project, managing your own Personnel team, or running international development programmes. The scope is there to develop in any way you want.

Today, we operate in 14 countries across the globe, employ over 470,000 employees and have some 4,300 stores worldwide. As a graduate at Tesco, you’ll be part of an exciting, growing and transforming business and as such could have the opportunity to work anywhere in the world.
