Customer Analysis gives us a deep insight into what our customers need. It's about understanding and anticipating customer requirements, then analysing our business and how stores meet those needs. Customer behaviour and customer loyalty form a big part of this.

The Customer Analysis team sits within Corporate Marketing and this specific programme runs alongside the Corporate Marketing Programme.

What will I be doing?

The Customer Analysis Programme allows you to experience two key areas:

  • Customer Analysis - consists of Trade and Customer Analysis, Customer Research and Non Food Insight.

In the Customer Analysis team you will be analysing data that will influence company decisions and drive sales and profitability. This could involve analysing store performance, sales trends of particular product areas, or the behaviour of certain customer groups. With a plethora of data available at Tesco, there is no query regarding customers that we can't answer. The challenge lies in cutting and analysing that data to make it meaningful and add value to the overall business.

Typically, you'll be working in a supportive, team environment of 3-8 people. You'll analyse customer, competitor and market behaviour and make recommendations on how we can improve things for customers. You'll formulate future customer needs and trends through research and analysis. And you'll use quantitative and qualitative data to solve problems and produce reports that will be used by the Marketing Director and the UK Board to influence the whole business.

Liaising with teams across Marketing, you'll be working with people with many years of knowledge in their area of expertise. This is a department that is constantly tested by the Board and never rests on its laurels. In short, you'll help us to make better decisions for the future of Tesco.
  • Price and Promotions - consists of Insight and Operations.

Our Price and Promotions team is key to helping customers choose a store, and then focus on creating interest and loyalty. You'll help us to set the Tesco price position and ensure we make the best recommendations for planning seasonal activities by keeping a strict eye on what the competition's up to. You'll be able to use your analytical skills in this team to help set both strategy and influence practical solutions.

Where could it take me?

Based at our offices in Cheshunt, you'll enjoy a 2 year programme packed with hands-on experience and high-calibre training, learning from the most talented people in the industry. You'll also get plenty of variety and excellent development opportunities throughout your career in an innovative and supportive environment. You will get the opportunity to map your career at your pace and in the direction you want it go.

In the longer term, you can develop your career in the Customer Analysis and Research field or broaden your career across Marketing or the rest of the business.

What skills do I need?

To make your mark in Customer Analysis, you'll need:

  • A 2:1 degree in an analytical or highly numerate degree and BBC or 280 UCAS points (or equivalent qualifications)
