Shares in Success

Every Little Helps is all about making working together more enjoyable. So, to thank our people for the success they’ve brought the business, we give free shares to everyone who’s worked here for one year at the end of the financial year (February). We share a proportion of our profit amongst our staff, based on salaries. These Tesco shares are held in trust for 5 years, and after that you can take them, tax free.

Save As You Earn (Share Option Scheme)

Every October those people who’ve been here a year get the option to save up to £50 every 4 weeks for either 3 or 5 years and receive a tax-free bonus at the end. You can use your savings and bonus to buy Tesco shares at up to 20% less than the market price, or take the cash.

Buy As You Earn (BAYE)

After three months working with us you’ll have the chance to join the BAYE scheme. You buy shares at the market price every 4 weeks, saving tax and National Insurance on the salary you use to do this. You can start, stop or change the amount you invest at any time. And if you keep the shares in trust for 5 years you’ll get even more tax advantages.

Pension

From day one you can join our first-class, award-winning contributory pension scheme.

Life Assurance

Right from the day you join us you’ll benefit from free life assurance. If you're a member of our pension scheme, this will be a lump sum payment of three years' salary. If not, it's one year's salary.

Rewards

Working at Tesco has a number of rewards. Many – like the culture and the friendly atmosphere – are difficult to measure. But there are others that are easier to pin down. Here’s a sample.

Salary

Whichever programme you choose, you can expect a minimum starting salary of £20,000. Graduate programme salaries range from £20,000 to £28,000. Each area of our business aims to reward our graduates well in comparison to the market.

Holidays

You’ll get at least 22 days’ paid holiday a year (pro rata in your first year). And, as you develop your career and advance in the business that can go up to 30 days. Which gives you plenty of time to get away from it all.

Discounts

After you’ve been with us for six months, we’ll give you a Staff Privilege Card. Spend over £1 in any of our UK stores and you’ll get 10% off. And it’s a Clubcard too, giving you points on anything over £1. And with the Privilege Card you can get discounts at Tesco.com, on our financial products, holidays, gym membership, childcare vouchers and health cover.

Lifestyle

Once you have been with the company for two years you can apply to take a lifestyle break of up to 3 months or career break of 3 months to 5 years. This is a great benefit if you want to focus on further education or take some time out to travel for example.

Leisure Deals

We’ve managed to get a number of deals for our people. From 10% off tour operators’ lowest prices on a huge range of holidays, to a 20% discount at UK attractions such as Alton Towers, Eden Project and Madame Tussauds. You can also exchange your clubcard vouchers in for vouchers to use on a wide range of leisure activities or restaurants and bars. You can even keep fit at a wide range of gyms that offer a 20% discount on the usual membership fees for Tesco staff.

Personal Finance

In partnership with Tesco Personal Finance, we can offer a wide selection of discounts on financial products:

  • 10% off home insurance
  • 5% off life assurance
  • 10% off car insurance
  • 10% off pet insurance
  • 5% off travel insurance

And you can get an extra 2500 Clubcard points on all loans.

Each year, you’ll get a Benefits Book that explains all the benefits you can take advantage of. And you’ll have an annual personal Benefits Report that’ll give you details of your total package.

And, of course, as your career progresses, you’ll have access to even more rewards. From a company car to an annual bonus.
