Shares in Success

Every Little Helps is all about making working together more enjoyable. So, to thank our people for the success they’ve broughtthe business, we give free shares to everyone who’s worked here for one year at the end of the financial year (February). We share a proportion of our profit amongst our staff, based on salaries. These Tesco shares are held in trust for 5 years, and after that you can take them, tax free.

Save As You Earn (Share Option Scheme)

Every October those people who’ve been here a year are invited to join our risk-free savings scheme, Save As You Earn. The scheme is simple, you save up to £50 every 4 weeks for either 3 or 5 years, and then choose to use your savings to buy Tesco shares at a discounted price set at the start of the scheme or simply take the cash.

Buy As You Earn (BAYE)

After three months working with us you’ll have the chance to join the BAYE scheme. You buy shares at the market price every 4 weeks, saving tax and National Insurance on the salary you use to do this. You can start, stop or change the amount you invest at any time. And if you keep the shares in trust for 5 years you’ll get even more tax advantages.

Pension

From day one you can join our first-class, award-winning defined benefit pension scheme which means that there are no nasty surprises at retirement, as your pension is based on your pay and how long you are in the scheme. So you can plan for your future.

Life Assurance

Right from the day you join us you’ll benefit from free life assurance. If you're a member of our pension scheme, this will be a lump sum payment of three times your contractual pay. If not, it's one year's contractual pay.

Rewards

Working at Tesco has a number of rewards. Many – like the culture and the friendly atmosphere – are difficult to measure. But there are others that are easier to pin down. Here’s a sample.

Salary

Whichever programme you choose, you can expect a minimum starting salary of £22,000. Graduate programme salaries range from £22,000 to £28,000. Each area of our business aims to reward our graduates well in comparison to the market.

Holidays

You’ll get at least 22 days’ paid holiday a year (pro rata in your first year). And, as you develop your career and advance in the business that can go up to 30 days. Which gives you plenty of time to get away from it all.

Discounts

After you’ve been with us for six months, we’ll give you your exclusive Privilegecard. Spend over £1 in any of our UK stores or online at Tesco.com and Tesco Direct and you’ll get 10% off. And it’s a Clubcard too, giving you points on anything over £1.

Lifestyle

Once you have been with the company for two years you can apply to take a lifestyle break of up to 3 months or career break of 3 months to 5 years. This is a great benefit if you want to focus on further education or take some time out to travel for example.

Exclusive Deals

We’ve managed to get a number of deals for our people. From up to 10% discount on holiday with Tesco Staff Travel Agent to savings on health care with discounted rates on Private Health and Dental Plans, you're sure to find a good deal. Plus we've also got a great range of deals helping you save on everything from everyday costs like tyres, MOTs and car services to treats like 2 for 1 meals out, driving lessons, hotel stays and fun days out.

Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile

In partnership with Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile, we can offer a wide selection of discounts on financial products and fantasic staff deals on Pay as you go, Pay monthly or 12 month contracts.

To keep you in touch with your benefits every year you will receive a personalised Benefits Reports that gives you details on your total package and shows exactly how you benefit from being a member of the Tesco team.

And, of course, as your career progresses, you’ll have access to even more rewards.
