You'd expect our rewards package to be generous, but did you know we also offer unlimited career opportunities, professional qualifications and even placements abroad?
Your training and development will be a top priority. It’ll give you the skills to take early responsibility and contribute to our business. On all of our graduate programmes, you will develop a personal development plan that involves both operational training and behavioural skills required for your role.
There are also a range of courses that will develop your technical knowledge. Depending on your programme, this may include technical skills in areas from using spreadsheets, to professional skills like leadership, negotiation or presentation skills. There are also core company skills such as; personal effectiveness, communication and time management. So you’ll have access to everything you need.
Alongside the varied training you’ll receive, you will be encouraged to make the most of specialist professional development opportunities. This varies depending on the area that you will be working in – for example our HR graduate programme offers CIPD qualification, and our Finance department offers the CIMA qualification.
Whatever business area you choose, you’ll have an induction period that’ll give you the low-down on Tesco. This will also cover what kind of training you can look forward to. And you’ll have a chance to meet other Tesco graduates. Getting to know them will be your first step towards building a network of contacts that will be valuable throughout your career with us.
Of course, at Tesco we’re great believers in learning through practical experience. That’s why the most valuable training you’ll receive will be in your business role area – whether that’s in a store, an office or a distribution centre – getting to know the basics of your role. Office and distribution graduates spend at least two weeks learning the most important part of our business – in a store, where the customer is. This enables you to relate to how decisions made in your own department have an effect on customers and stores.
