You probably know we're a successful business but did you know our Corporate Responsibility commitments mean that we're a sustainable one too?

Joined Tesco in 2006
I got to know Tesco better during a case study on my master degree in Cranfield University in 2006. The technical side of the Tesco’s operations deeply impressed me. After I joined the company, I was surprised how quickly I was focusing on people management and the need to use different styles of management to get the best from each individual. This responsibility to manage my own team members on a day to day basis was challenging but also rewarding at the same time.
Tesco is an innovative company and constantly seeking improvements. This gives plenty of opportunity to contribute ideas to improve the distribution operation to the senior management team and gives satisfaction from seeing my own ideas being tested and implemented across the entire network of the company.
Currently I am at Hinckley distribution centre on my third placement. This is a fresh produce depot with temperature controlled storage at 0ºC or +12ºC. The products are moved a lot faster compared with our grocery distribution centres. The team is constantly under pressure to deliver to targets and provide the best service for customers. However, we receive lots of support and guidance from our senior managers to do this.
Tesco has the second highest number of employees in UK. This presents many opportunities to transfer to various aspects of the operation, distribution centres all over the country and even to go abroad. Tesco takes the core business model to all their locations in and out of UK. If you want to progress you need to work hard, be flexible and look for suitable opportunities. I am really enjoying my career development in Tesco and would highly recommend Tesco to you.
