I know that I carry out tasks that are important to the business. However, the difference with Tesco (and especially this graduate programme) is that you're surrounded with like-minded people who understand the importance of good communication and team spirit.
I'm currently managing the Tesco 'Essential Savings' campaign – this involves constantly liaising with commercial teams to ensure we not only have enough offers, but also the right kind of offers to best benefit the customer. It's my job to ensure that this campaign gets the best marketing support it can and that stores know what they have to do to make it work.
Everyone says that there is so much to learn at Tesco (I hate the idea of copying others words, but it seems there really is) and I intend to make the most of it. I want to experience more of Marketing before going on and trying out the more Commercial and Operational sides to the business.
Tesco is a fast-moving business and you often have to adapt. If you thrive on change and have good personal skills, it is likely Tesco is for you. My advice is to try and understand the opportunities and challenges that the graduate programme will offer you before you apply. Then it's likely you'll be able to better adapt your application and get through.
