You probably know we're a successful business but did you know our Corporate Responsibility commitments mean that we're a sustainable one too?
BSc Real Estate Valuation and Management, University of the West of England, Bristol
Joined Tesco September 2004
When I left university I wanted to continue my interest in Property and joining Tesco was an opportunity to do that with a blue chip company and a renowned good employer. I’m currently a Development Planning Manager for South England and Wales, which involves supporting the acquisition team in delivering new stores through the planning and design stage of the development process.
My three placements on the graduate programme followed the cycle of Property Services from start to finish. Firstly I was involved in acquiring land for new stores. The feasibility planning of these schemes were presented fortnightly to the Property board of directors. This exposure was an excellent way of raising my profile before taking a permanent role within the business. The next placement involved retail planning for live stores on the Development programme. I completed the programme with a placement in the Development department where I helped project manage construction projects on site.
Through all these placements I was often faced with challenges, but fortunately I always worked in experienced and friendly teams who were happy to advise and point me in the right direction. The experience I gained set me in good stead for my current role and the exposure I gained was invaluable.
