You probably know we're a successful business but did you know our Corporate Responsibility commitments mean that we're a sustainable one too?

Joined Tesco 1991
I joined the Tesco graduate programme in the Site Research department. Site Research is a great place to start a career in Tesco. With plenty of travel around the UK, I quickly got to see a large number of our stores, our competitor stores and to really understand the factors that can influence how successful a store can be. Working closely with the Property teams also introduced me to an area I had no real experience of and it was amazing how much responsibility I was given so soon after joining.
The Site Research team are involved in many projects looking at growing our business at home and overseas and in 1996 I was involved in our entry into Ireland. Initially I researched the Irish market as part of the Business Development team and then spent three years managing the Irish Site Research team, helping formulate and deliver our store development strategy.
In 2000 I returned to manage the UK Site Research function, and after six years in this role, I decided it was time for a change, a new challenge and to learn about another area of the business. Through our ‘Talent Planning’ process, everyone discusses their next career move with their manager. I expressed an interest in moving into Marketing and last year made the move into my current role.
As Stores and Local Marketing Director, I’m responsible for marketing our stores – from using the best customer insight to make sure our offer is right for each location, to promoting and advertising our stores at a local level. Working with our external agencies, our store managers, commercial colleagues, and the other marketing teams, I’ve really learned a lot about a new area of our business – just like when I joined the graduate programme.
