You probably know we're a successful business but did you know our Corporate Responsibility commitments mean that we're a sustainable one too?
Studied English at Oxford University
Joined Tesco in September 2000
I wasn't really sure what to expect from a career in a big business - and one of the reasons I joined Tesco was to find out. It wasn't at all what I expected, which is probably why I'm still here.
In my seven years at Tesco I've worked in six different roles, from the Stores and Local Marketing team, which has loads of contact with our stores; to Trade Planning, which is much more about working with Commercial and driving our sales. I've also worked in Prague leading the marketing side of an acquisition of the Czech Carrefour business. That was a real "in at the deep end" experience, where I was learning new skills every day just to stay afloat, and showed how Tesco really are prepared to stretch you and give you fantastic opportunities when you ask for it!
I consider one of the most important things in a job is to have fun and enjoy it - and I've definitely done that. Everywhere I go there are fantastic people to work with who all "get things done" but don't take themselves too seriously and have a great time doing it.
I now work on our Community Plan which suits me down to the ground. I love having a whole new area to learn about and attempt to become an "expert" in! I'm working on how to make our stores more local, through things like more community work and volunteering. I'm also working on marketing our Community Plan better to staff and customers - I want to help our staff to be proud of all the great stuff we're doing.
Basically if you're up for a challenge, enthusiastic and prepared to get stuck in then Tesco is great place to work - incredibly rewarding, lively and exciting and most importantly a lot of fun!
