If you're driven, ambitious and you want to start achieving right now, this fast-track programme could be made for you. In fact, it could help you launch your retail Management career in less than 12 months.
It'll come as no surprise then, that when you join us you'll be given immediate responsibility and plenty of challenges. We'll expect a lot from you throughout the programme, so you'll need to be hardworking, passionate about retail and committed to delivering the very best for our customers. But you'll receive plenty of support from the Senior Managers in your store, as well as some excellent on and off the job training. Everything you need to make your mark and get ahead – as Britain's largest retailer, we certainly won't hold you back.
It all starts with a couple of inductions – a day corporate induction where you'll get to meet all the other new UK management trainees, followed by a four-week store induction. This will help you get to grips with how our stores work and, with a week on the night shift, you'll be able to see what it takes to run a 24-hour retail operation.
Next, you'll start developing the technical and leadership skills you need to work as a Line Manager – culminating in a line manager placement with full management responsibilities, including people management. Do well on the placement, and you could be appointed as a line manager running your own department as quickly as April.
It's a lot to take on in a short space of time, and whilst you'll always have a strong team around you to support you, the programme has to be driven by you. There will be regular reviews along the way so you can gauge how well you're progressing and get advice and guidance from your own Line Manager, who'll act as your programme mentor.
Expectations will be high and responsibility will come thick and fast, so this isn't for everyone. It means although the right qualifications are important, it's your approach that will make the real difference.
You'll have to be ambitious, confident and ready to really get on with your future. You'll need to be mature, capable and professionally minded – ready to aim high and embrace all the responsibility you're given.
In terms of your qualifications, you'll need GCSEs in Maths and English (grade C or above) and 240 UCAS points or equivalent*.
