The Commercial Function at Tesco is about buying more for less.  It's about working with marketing to understand the products customers want and buying these products at the best possible prices.

We have 6 roles in Commercial. 

The roles in Buying are:

  • 1 x Food buyer - North Region based in Beijing
  • 1 x Food buyer - South Region based in Guangzhou
  • 2 x Food buyers - East Region based in Shanghai
  • 1 x Food buyer - Headquarters based in Shanghai
  • 1 x Home buyer - Nonfood based in Shanghai

These roles involve creating profitable customer driven ranges and promotions to deliver sales and margin targets.  Your buying plan will support a group of products to support the delivery of the customer plan and promises of 'I can get what I want' and 'the prices are good'.  Other specifics for the buying roles include:

  • Making sure the buying plan supports delivery of the customer plan
  • Hitting sales and margin targets
  • Making sure that you have a great range which gives customers a reason to shop with us across all store formats
  • Develop the supplier base to achieve competitive advantage
  • Negotiate product cost and rebates to continually drive down costs for our customers
  • Plan and negotiate market leading promotions
  • Use the exit process to optimise sell through and minimise exit costs
  • Ensure that things simpler for stores
