You may have thought we'd offer a wide variety of graduate programmes, but did you imagine there'd be 17 of them to choose from?
Whilst we expect you to drive your own career choices and enjoy a high degree of responsibility and autonomy, this will be partnered with first class training and support.
You will have a buddy from Telecoms before you even start with us, who can help with all aspects of your new roles and settling in. Your buddy will also help you to get to know others from across the business, formally and more informally through the ample opportunities to socialize. And talking of socializing, you will also join a broader network of Tesco graduates, meeting other graduates just like you at a relocation event in July, again at your graduate induction in September and then ongoing through graduate forums and social networking.
You will have high exposure to, and the opportunity to work with Directors from across the Telecoms business. You will also build a strong relationship with one Director in particular, who will be your mentor. This is invaluable relationship, providing you with expert guidance and encouragement. And when it comes to the end of your scheme your mentor will help you decide the best opportunities for you to further grow your career.
Plus you’ll have the full support and coaching of your Line Manager and HR throughout your scheme and beyond.
In addition, as part of your induction you’ll gain a brilliant insight into the wider Tesco business. A comprehensive training and development plan will also ensure you’re fully equipped to hit the ground running. You will experience technical training on excel, outlook, word etc. on the job training, plus monthly leadership and soft-skills training days with other gradates, including how to get the best from others, to presentation skills and influencing stakeholders
The fast paced environment and growth plans within Telecoms means there will be a wide range of opportunities and career paths available to you once you complete the scheme. Your first role after your graduate scheme will be a promotion into a first management position, with a salary to reflect this increased responsibility. In the longer term, you’ll also have the opportunity to consider roles across the wider business, in which to develop and progress your career. And we are committed to making your career aspirations become reality and supporting you to have a long and successful career at Tesco.
"At University I studied Management and Marketing. I started my career working my way up in stores, before moving to the office as part of the Telecoms team responsible for the design, trial and roll-out of Phone Shops. This was a fantastic project and I learnt how key decisions made in the office help shape the performance of all our stores.
I was then promoted to Marketing Manager for Telecoms and Tesco Mobile. I currently look after the Point of Sale team, meaning that I'm responsible for all customer-facing communication in stores.
Telecoms has been a great place for me to grow my career because I've benefited from being part of a relatively small, dynamic team, which is reinforced by the strengths of the wider Tesco business."
